Thoughtful is a journaling app built with a simple principle: your memories belong to you. This policy explains what data is collected, how it’s used, and how it’s protected.

Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Journal Content

Your journal entries, photos, tags, and related metadata are stored:

  • locally on your device
  • in your private iCloud account using Apple’s CloudKit, so they can sync across your devices

We (the developer) cannot access your journal content.
CloudKit private databases do not grant developers visibility into any user’s stored data.

1.2 Analytics (Anonymous)

Thoughtful automatically collects anonymous analytics to understand app performance and stability. This includes:

  • basic usage statistics (e.g., feature usage counts)
  • device information (e.g., model, iOS version)
  • crash reports

These analytics:

  • do not identify you
  • do not include journal content
  • use the default data-retention settings of Apple

Services used:

  • Apple App Analytics

1.3 No Personal Information Collected

Thoughtful does not collect:

  • names
  • phone numbers
  • accounts or passwords
  • location
  • photos
  • contacts
  • personally identifiable information of any kind
  • email addresses

This app does not require you to create an account. Your Apple ID is only used for iCloud syncing

1.4 No AI Features

Thoughtful does not use any AI processing or AI related data handling.

2. Third-Party Services

Thoughtful uses the following services only:

  • Apple iCloud / CloudKit (data storage & syncing)

No advertising SDKs, marketing trackers, or additional third-party services are used.

3. How Your Data is Store and Protected

Journal content is stored using:

  • iCloud encryption, managed by Apple
  • Apple’s built-in device security
  • Secure CloudKit private databases

We rely on Apple’s secure infrastructure and do not run our own servers.

4. Data Deletion

You can delete all of your data at any time.To delete Thoughtful’s data from iCloud:

Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Apps Using iCloud → Thoughtful → Delete Data

Deleting the app does not automatically delete your iCloud data; you must remove it manually if desired.

5. Children’s Privacy

Thoughtful is not designed for children, but may be used by individuals aged 4 and older per its App Store age rating. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal data, please contact us so we can assist.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally.Any changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date at the top.
